Ultimate Christmas Experience Gift for Two – Lunch at Mitchelin star Rocksalt restaurant, Folkestone, Kent : REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
With a welcome fit for a king, it was only fitting that Prince Tetteh and his wife Rose swiftly signed up to sample Rocksalt’s sumptuous winter menu.
Arriving to a heroes welcome, the duo were stunned with the enthusiastic and warm reception from staff who had been expecting them.
They were ushered to their table by courteous waiters and were able to admire the stunning views across the channel from their seats.
After hearing whispers about this restauraunt from as far a field as London and France, they were on tenterhooks to see if the A la Carte menu lived up to it’s reputation.
With Christmas just weeks away, the winter menu was the perfect teaser for their tastebuds.
The first course was served – the classic Rocksalt Prawn Cocktail.
It was light and decadent, and ‘not too creamy’ to Rose’s delight.
After indulging in the freshly baked breads and crisp breads with olive oil and balsamic vinegar they provided on the table, she was keen to leave plenty of room to sample the mains.
Prince opted for a signature dish for his starters – the baked mussels, smoked backon and Kentish Gala Cider.
This dish certainly ticked every box – the moorish meal was simply delicious. The sauce was devine, rich and flavoursome and not too salty either.
Having come from a long line of fisherman from his heritage in Ghana, Prince had high expectations for his main course too.
He opted for the decadent Whole Dover sole with caper butter.
It was light, exquisitely seasoned and dainty. The fresh catch was a favourite for them on the day.
For her mains, Rose opted for a sirloin steak, and devoured the butcher’s cut that was fleshy, rich and extremely tasty – cooked to medium heat.
It came with a side of crispy fries – which Rocksalt is famous for, thanks to its secret ingredients – and a fluffy and flavoursome Bearnaise sauce.
Just when they thought there was no room for afters – a space suddenly became available when they cast their eyes on the dessert list.
They opted for a very festive Mulled Wine Poached Pear, Ginger Bread and Custard.
The homemade pudding was just delicious, not too sweet, but with flavours that blended together perfectly.
You could even taste the fresh vanilla in the custard.
Rocksalt is the perfect Experience gift for couples and families.
With it’s fabulous atmosphere, views across the ocean and kind and courteous staff who are willing to go all out to make sure your visit will be one to remember, it’s clear to see why Rocksalt is among Kent’s favourite restaurants.
