Best Winter getaways for the family in the U.K. – Blackpool Pleasure Beach and the legendary Big Blue hotel for @nickelodeon Slime Fest ????????

This was my first time ever at the legendary Blackpool Pleasure Beach –  and it won’t be my last. It lived up to its reputation of a fun-filled family friendly destination with it’s award winning Nickelodeon Land –  boy was our 6-year-old in his element actually getting to dance onstage (albeit mixing genres and doing the ‘hotdog’ dance from The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse ) with the main man Spongebob.

The rides were great for even the littlest ones –  my one-year-old beamed as for once he didn’t have to stand on the sidelines and could join in the magic rollercoaster style rides.

There’s something for everyone –  and the daredevils among you have got to try ICON, the latest roller-coaster ride out there –  which could give the likes of Disney World in Florida and Thorpe Park a run for their money,

Our timing was perfect –  as we were invited to the Nickelodeon Slime Fest show –  that was all gooey and great at the same time.

We watched as the kids were plunged into a pit at the front to get slimed from head to toe.

The talent onstage was unreal as Diversity’s Ashley and Jordan Banjo hosted the event –  and busted out some showstopping moves with the Britain’s Got Talent wonders Diversity.

With music from the US, as well as hits from Busted that had the erm, old-timmers like me tapping my feet in the aisles, it was a cracking show –  great for giving your kids a first taste of concerts too.

Look out for celebs too, as the likes of Towie’s Gemma Collins, Chloe Sims and Danielle Lloyd came with their families and had a blast.

OUR DIGS:

We stayed at the awesome Big Blue hotel.

Just five mins from the Blackpool Pleasure Beach train station, it’s a family friendly 4* hotel with great family size rooms with a double bed, kids bunk bed decorated with snakes and ladders on the wall, and a Playstation console for the kids too!

It’s the first choice of all the Strictly Come Dancing lot when they come annually for the Blackpool Ballroom show –  and they absolutely love it.

With a mixture of glam, combining the stunning breakfast room with dramatic blue chandeliers, incredible sprawling selection of full English breakfast and continental treats in the morning, it also offers room service on tap, and a gym to burn off those breakfast croissants.

It has a special VIP entrance to fast track you to the Pleasure Beach too which is a bonus.

There’s loads going on in the run up to Christmas so it’s not too late to get down there.
